The problem with "scientific" creationism is that, inherently, it isn't. First off, science starts with facts and tries to deduce a principle: creationism goes at it backwards, starting with a principle and trying to deduce facts. Second, creationism is not falsifiable, as all scientific theories must be: it can't be proven wrong, since God is infinitely adaptable to explain readily any holes that might be poked in the hypothesis. Third, all existing "proofs" of creationism have done nothing but try (unsuccessfully, mind you) to poke holes in the theory of evolution: they haven't yet offered up any actual evidence FOR creationism.
As for evolution being a religion, that's simply false. Most scientists accept evolution because there simply isn't a better answer out there. Evolution is backed up with much the same degree of proof as electromagnetism or digestion, yet we don't claim that since our TVs work or our food nourishes us, those theories are dogmatic.
